Day 19

This morning’s view is a quintessential framed Aussie art work.

On the road to Cloncurry.

Road train called up requesting clearance across the one lane bridge, we obliged.

Fingers crossed we have enough fuel to get to Normanton.
But just to be sure we strop up at $2.77 per litre.

We were lucky to score a slab with a cover to sit under, it also shelters the van from the midday and afternoon sun.
There only one other van here.
During the peak Grey nomad season it is full to overflowing.

Not only Grey nomads stay here.
A mustering chopper pilot stopped over for N afternoon shower and bite to eat before heading out again.
No wonder the price of beef is so high. Chartering the chopper for mustering comes at $500 per hour.

Just after this guy left another arrived.
The company has a fleet of 34 choppers.

Contrary to what I believed it is not necessary to hold a fixed wing pilots license before learning to fly helicopters.

So burgers a small bowl of wedges and beer was on for dinner.

I found a little friend in the shower recess tonight.
