Day 18

A quick trip on Monday to Woolies, other than Bunnings and Supercheap auto nothing opens on a Sunday.

Today we travelled in excess of 51 km from Mount Isa to the abandoned Uranium mining town of Mary Kathleen.

The town opened in 1958 and all the buildings had been removed by 1985. What remains are the concrete slabs that they stood on, these make perfect caravan parking slabs.

After setting up camp we unhitched and headed for the mine site.

The land is now privately owned and there has been no maintenance on the roads so it was interesting to say the least. Lots of very large pot holes and wash aways.

If only we could get over the hill for a quick swim.
